MintMe and the new generation

20 avr. 2020

We have always found funny ways to separate historical times, and differentiate the generations, For decades, different research centers have been committed to measuring public attitudes on key issues and documenting differences in those attitudes across demographic groups in a way that can help us understand how people work and how the society can be and has been transformed through time with the implications of climate change, health issue, globalization, modernization, technology, and many other factors. By any means, the so-called “millennials generation” could be named between the most popular as the most complicated.

Millennials

Anyone born between 1981 and 1996 (ages 23 to 38 in 2019) is considered a Millennial, and anyone born from 1997 onward is part of a new generation. Between all of the events, we can mention between the factors that affect the generations directly, Technology, in particular the rapid evolution of how people communicate and interact, is one of the most important generation-shaping events that we should have into consideration.

If you are reading this and you are a millennial like me, then you probably had a phone with a blue screen or used to be excited about finally getting your first Nintendo 64 for Christmas. Or you can remember the difficulties (we didn’t think those were difficulties at a time) of communicating with other people, despite having an old version of Messenger with funny sounds, we could not possibly stay there the whole day. I don’t think I was the only one who scheduled meetings with friends to talk in AOL. Social media, constant connectivity and on-demand entertainment and communication are innovations Millennials adapted to as they came of age. We literally came of age during the internet explosion.

What's most interesting about all this is that we are right in the middle, since the generations that came next have no idea what it is to not have a smartphone and can’t really appreciate the significant changes that have overcome us in such a fast way. I think this is fascinating.

There is a bad sight to all of this, though, since for some reason many people from different lines of generations have agreed upon the characteristics of the millennials, saying that we are lazy, narcissistic and prone to jump from job to job. They have called us "The Me Me Me Generation” Yet, we have also demonstrated that we are open-minded do-gooders because we are the generation that has suffered the most changes in a shorter time.

The crypto generation

As a very interesting fact, cryptocurrencies or the digital coin's boom, also happened in 2009 right in the flourishing of those who were born in the late 90s and we opened the doors right away as if it was something that came with us during birth. Literally, we became the crypto generation. The generation that was willing to start something new because we believe in the possibilities that technology can bring, and we have indeed experienced for the last 10 years how blockchain technology silently started to grow backstage irrupting into many subjects, schools, social media, the government, banks, medic care, crowdfunding, stocks market. Let me tell you, I think we are lucky because we can appreciate how we have become a better version of our past generations having tried different old technologies and starting up with a new one.

MintMe is one of those projects that firmly believe people are the force behind things working. People who continuously grow and expand, discover and learn. Those people are the new generation that can get the best out of cryptocurrencies, token creation, and blockchain technology. Are you part of this new generation?
